Auto coverage

Car insurance in Ontario.

Mandatory coverage is the floor, not the goal. The difference between policies is what happens after the accident.

What it covers

The parts worth getting right.

  • Third party liability, accident benefits and uninsured motorist
  • Collision and comprehensive, with the deductible set where it makes sense
  • Rental car and loss of use while yours is off the road
  • Waiver of depreciation on a new vehicle

Commonly missed

Most people carry the minimum liability without ever being told what a serious injury claim actually costs. It is the cheapest coverage to increase.

Worth knowing

Ontario’s mandatory minimum liability is $200,000. Almost nobody should be carrying it.

Common questions

Asked most about this.

How much liability should I carry?

Most drivers we place carry one or two million. Increasing it is the cheapest change you can make to a policy, because serious injury claims run far past the minimum.

Does a higher deductible actually save much?

On collision, usually yes. We show you the premium at each level so you can decide what you would rather absorb yourself.
