Life coverage

Life insurance, explained in plain words.

Term or permanent, the question is the same: who depends on your income, and for how long.

What it costs

What actually moves the price.

Life is the one line where waiting costs money. The premium is set by your age and health on the day you apply, and it does not come back down.

Age when you apply

The biggest factor, and the only one that moves against you every single year.

Health and smoking

Non smoker rates are dramatically lower, and quitting can be re-rated after a qualifying period.

Amount and term

How much coverage you need, and how many years it has to run for.

How you are underwritten

Full medical, or health questions only. Smaller amounts often avoid the medical entirely.

Common questions

Asked most about life.

How much coverage do I need?

Enough to clear what you owe and replace your income for as long as someone depends on it. We work it out from your actual obligations rather than a multiple of salary.

Is the coverage through work enough?

Rarely, and it usually ends when the job does. Group coverage is a useful layer on top of your own policy, not a replacement for it.

Do I need a medical?

Often, though not always. Smaller amounts can be written on health questions alone, and we will tell you which route your case fits before you apply.
